Result: Lost 23-16
Match report: After a defeat by Framlingham in their last match, the U14 A team came out with enthusiasm to meet Bishop Stortford. The start of the match saw the two teams pretty evenly matched, with BS 3 goals ahead at the end of the first quarter. However, the second and third quarters saw some excellent shooting and centre court play by the BS girls, accompanied by some careless errors and poor passing by Felsted. This lead to BS being 20-10 up going into the final quarter.
Felsted's
defence came out firing in the last quarter and some excellent
interceptions from Molly McGuckian, Sophie Cuthbert and Rachael Freedman
meant that Felsted started to pull back. However, solid shooting from
BS meant that they maintained their lead to the finish.
From this match Felsted will be working on their passing and set plays to return to winning form.
U14 B
Result: Lost 32-9
Match report: Our
first loss. Our hopes for an undefeated season collapsed today as we
faced the mighty U14 B squad of Bishop Stortford. All of their team
played with a determination, yet in the third and fourth quarter we made
them work hard for their victory.
Star Player: L32-9
Harriet
Lathwell intercepted particularly well and her efforts were much
appreciated by all of the squad, so much so that she was acknowledged as
Man of the Match. Immy Hewing-Powell encouraged the team with her
positive vibes from the goal area and led the team through some tactical
strategies inbetween quarters. Hopefully, we can use this match as a
learning curve and improve on certain skills for our Haileybury match on
Saturday. Otherwise a fighting attitude from all my girls - well done!
U14 C
Result: Lost 27-5
Match report: Bishop's
Stortford gave an excellent performance today and were just too strong
for the Felsted girls. After the first three or four minutes, Bishop's
Stortford had scored five goals and things were not looking great for
the away team. Although the opposition went on to score four more before
the break, Felsted also won two back, ending the first quarter at 9-2.
Next, Felsted scored one more, but Bishop's Stortford were storming
ahead and the half ended 13-3. However, there was still all to play for
and the girls came back for the second half with spirits still high and
plenty of enthusiasm. Unfortunately, the strong passing and speed of the
Bishop's Stortford team meant that Felsted struggled to get possession
of the ball and to find space when they did have it. Felsted did score
one more goal and there were a few excellent interceptions and passes
throughout, but today was Bishop Stortford’s day – well done to them.
